I love this bike!! Looked around at Giant, Trek, you name it. The Blast had the equipment package of Giants and Treks that cost about $300 more, and it's lighter and looks better. I chose it over the Cinder Cone because I liked the brakes better, plus the blue and white color scheme is gorgeous in person. An unfortunate side effect is that I'm constantly cleaning the bike to make it look clean, but then it'll probably last longer! I've ridden this bike several times through the Frederick watershed here in MD, many trails of which are miles and miles of nothing but rock gardens. This bike takes them like a champ! Other than regular chain lubes and maintenance I've had zero issues mechanically with the bike. The parts all work together in concert great. Switch the pedals out for some Kona Wah Wahs or Jack Sh!ts and the bike is nearly perfect. I'd also recommend a better wheelset, the Alex rims really let the bike get up and moving quick but I managed to break one in a crash. Kudos to Kona however for replacing it free. You'll need wider rims if you want to put larger rubber than the 2.1 Aspens that are included. I've relegated the stock rims to gravel trails, fast XC tracks and put some wider Shimano rims with beefier Maxxis Ardents for my all mountain type rides.

Comments:
I absolutley love this bike after riding a rigid fork for the past 10 years I wonder why I waited so long to spend my money, I will be doing less road work and more trails for sure. I decided to by a guys bike as that is what Iam used to and the Blast felt like home!

I've had this bike for about a year it's a "blast". For the price you get a great shox decent cranks and awsome tires. these brakes work better than the ones on the Specilied hardrock. The only thing I did to mine was i put azonic bars on it.
