Cyclesmith’s technicians offer Basic and Advanced bicycle repair courses to supplement your cycling knowledge. We are experts in repairing and maintaining bicycles. You'll learn the best ways to care for and fix problems on your road and mountain bikes using pro tools and procedures.
Basic Bike Repair Course
The Basic Clinic familiarizes you with the basic knowledge a cyclist requires, such as flat tire repairs and trailside adjustment. As preventative maintenance is essential, the student learns to diagnose their bicycle and gain better insight into how a bicycle works. The course will be about an hour, and has a limit of 8 people.
This clinic includes;
- Tools and lubrication
- Wheels, tires and tubes
- Minor brake and derailleur adjustments
Course fee: $25
Our basic courses will take place in the spring/summer when demand is at its highest. We'll keep you posted when these start!
Advanced Bike Repair Course
The Advanced Clinic is a complete bicycle overhaul. Bearing systems, wheel truing and brake and shifting systems are the major items covered. Each course is limited to 4 participants and is conducted over two days and approximately 9 hours of instruction. There is a 1-4 instructor to student ratio. The advanced clinic includes the above topics, as well as:
- Hands-on wheel truing
- Bearing adjustment (headset, bottom bracket and hubs)
- Hands-on brake adjustments (pads and cables)
- Shifting system service(cable, indexing, limits, shifters, and cleaning)
- Stem, bar and seatpost adjustment
Course fee: $180 (including the Park Tool book "The Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair"). $90 deposit required to hold your spot.
Our advanced courses will be held on January 20th/21st, February 3rd/4th, and February 17/18th; additional courses will be added to meet demand.
